Cool New Software for Designers!

This post will hit home for all the designers out there. I just discovered cool new web-based software for specifications!

What I love about Specify is that a) it's totally web-based. b) it has a variety of monthly pricing options depending on your firm size. c) It handles everything from proposals to specifications to invoices, all in one place!

I'm seriously considering officially launching my design business now that I have this organization tool. My issue with this is- would anyone be interested in my design services, given the plethora of others out there doing the same thing?  Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated !

Check it out here.

Also, it has a very cool iphone app, if you are cool and have the iphone.

Look at the specification sheet I created in about 5 minutes tonight!

Strawberry stuffed French toast

Guess which sister reads Annie’s Eats with regularity? Hint- not the one writing the blog.

All in all, we had a great time hanging out, eating really good food, and catching up.

Bathroom Inspiration- Graphically Contemporary

I’m helping my good friend Kristen do a makeover of her one and only bathroom. The house is a cute bungalow with lots of charm, and this bathroom needs to feel like it belongs to the rest of the house!

I came up with two options for her and hubby to choose from. Today, I’m going to share with you the one they didn’t pick.

kristen's bath-graphically contemporary

The bathroom is small, only 5x8, so every inch needs to be functional and make a big impact.  They have existing white 4” tile wainscoting that will be staying.

1.Storage would be hidden behind these frosted glass cabinets, which would be arranged over the toilet to create a storage wall.

2.This glass shelf above the vanity for open storage for toothbrushes and soap.

3.Clean and simple polished chrome bath accessories  like this double towel bar streamline the space and add more function to every inch.

4. A contemporary single faucet complements the vanity.

5. A frameless frosted glass mirror goes with the contemporary look of this bath.

6. A stenciled ceiling in a pattern similar to this, in tones of gray and green, adds interest. The gray would be the wall color to balance the white.

7.A clean and contemporary vanity fixture will add more light to the sink area.

8.Very contemporary vanity with semi-recessed sink is the style identifier for this space.

9. This  windmill pattern with black accents ties the white  wall tile in with the dark vanity.

I’ll share the details of the design they DID choose after the reno is complete!
